Poem: The train ride
Grab a leg and pull.
The boy yanks her hair in return.
Their parents argue,
paying their kids no mind
except the strangers squishing
to make room on the other side.
An elderly lady watches on
in amusement
fondly remembering her days
of young fun and carefree times.
The guy hunched next to her devours
a baguette, with lettuce and cheese
crumbs spilling and puddling
on his knees.
I sit opposite them, between two ladies
with long coats occupying part of my seat.
As everyone continues being,
my thoughts scream and wail
begging
for an immediate escape.
